MERGE events
MERGE arranges events and meetings to make sure researchers and its stakeholders are updated on the latest research findings, and to facilitate the important cooperation and interaction within the research environment and with its stakeholders.
Recurring meeting places
The events listed below are recurring, and are important meeting places for our researchers and its stakeholders. Some are only open for members of MERGE, and some are open to a wider target audience.
MERGE workshops
Workshops are often open for a wider audience than MERGE members. Workshops serve many purposes, for example
- to update a scientific area of particular interest to MERGE
- to interact with stakeholders,
- to initiate research applications, or
- to initiate research collaborations, including collaborations with stakeholders.
MERGE Annual meeting
Once a year the members within MERGE meet during two days filled with research, inspiration, networking and important MERGE-updates. The annual meeting is only open to MERGE researchers and PhD students.
MERGE biennial spring meeting with sister SRA BECC
The complementary expertise and methodologies used by MERGE and BECC scientists has the potential to make significant contributions to our understanding of climate change and its links to biodiversity and ecosystem services, and to inform national and international policy and assessments based on the best available science. During the biennial spring meeting, the SRA:s meet to discuss how the SRA:s collaborate and strengthen the overlap in knowledge. The event is open to BECC and MERGE researchers.
Swedish Climate Symposium
Every second year since 2022 MERGE together with BECC, the Bolin Centre and SMHI has arranged the Swedish Climate Symposium - a symposium for increased scientific understanding of climate change and its environmental and societal consequences. You may read more about The Swedish Climate Symposium 2024 here.

ClimBEco courses for PhD students
MERGE is co-funding ClimBEco, a two-year graduate research school that promotes interdisciplinary research by supporting PhD students in networking and learning across different fields of study.
